H0981: Athlete Representation and Compensation
Legislative Summary
Prohibits certain contracts between athlete agent & student athlete from allowing athlete agent to receive more than specified percentage of student athlete's total compensation derived from use of student athlete's name, image, or likeness; defines "name, image, & likeness collective"; requires DBPR to maintain database of athlete agents which is accessible to public; provides short title; prohibits FHSAA bylaws from requiring student athletes to register compensation with specified entities; authorizes certain high school student athletes to earn compensation for use of their name, image, or likeness; requires students under certain age to obtain parental consent to earn such compensation; prohibits such student athletes from engaging in activities or entering into contracts & agreements that meet specified criteria; defines "name, image, & likeness collective"; authorizes student athletes to consult with authorized advisors; requires students under specified age to obtain parental consent for such consultation; provides requirements for such advisors; provides school responsibilities & requirements.
