Legislative Summary
Establishes Task Force on Diabetes Management; ; requires task force to develop certain criteria upon making certain determination; provides for membership & meetings of task force; authorizes State Surgeon General to reestablish task force; specifies procedures & duties if task force is reestablished; requires State Surgeon General to establish program under certain conditions by specified date; requires DOH to create & maintain website; requires federally qualified health centers or covered entities to make good faith effort to schedule appointments within specified timeline; authorizes pharmacist to prescribe & dispense 30-day supply of insulin drugs, glucagon drugs, diabetes devices, & diabetic ketoacidosis devices; prohibits pharmacist from requiring patients to pay more than certain amount for such drugs & devices; requires pharmacists to refer patient to federally qualified health center; requires department to provide certain notice to all pharmacists; requires health insurance policies & health maintenance contracts, respectively, to provide coverage for laboratory & diagnostic testing & screening for diabetes; prohibits health insurance policy & health maintenance contracts from exposing certain cost-sharing requirements; provides applicability; requires dispenser to report to electronic health recordkeeping system certain drugs & devices dispensed.
