HB2517: MATERNAL MORTALITY EDUCATION

Legislative Summary

Amends the Department of Professional Regulation Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Defines "maternal health care services", "postnatal care", and "prenatal care". Provides that, on and after January 1, 2026, health care professionals who provide maternal health care services and seek to renew a license or registration shall complete at least a one-hour course in training on implicit bias awareness that includes training in potential maternal health risk factors associated with childbearing individuals who are part of a marginalized racial or ethnic group with increased maternal mortality rates.
