HB740: AN ACT relating to campaign finance and declaring an emergency.

Legislative Summary

Amend KRS 121.015 to define "form"; amend KRS 121.160 to remove the requirement of a candidate or slate of candidates designating a treasurer at the office with which they file for candidacy, and instead require the office for which the candidate files to forward a copy to the Registry of Election Finance; amend KRS 121.180 to require a candidate exempt from filing a campaign finance report to file a 30 day post-election report of receipts and disbursements; require a candidate who is exempt from filing for the primary who advances to the regular election to refile for the filing exemption; require any candidate who is no longer eligible for the exemption to immediately file for a revocation of the exemption; and permit candidates, slate of candidates, and candidate-authorized campaign committee to file annual campaign finance reports with requirements prescribed; remove references to paper filing; and make technical corrections.
