Legislative Summary
An Act To Create The Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Enforcement Study Committee To Examine And Develop Recommendations Regarding The Most Effective Means Of Ensuring That Drivers On The Public Roads Of The State Have Secured Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance, Including, But Not Limited To, The Feasibility Of Imposing A Requirement That Proof Of Liability Insurance Be Presented Before A License Tag Or Decal May Be Issued Or Renewed And, If Feasible, The Best Practices For Administering Such A Requirement; To Require The Committee To Report Its Findings And Recommendations To The Legislature By October 1, 2025; To Provide The Composition Of, And Certain Procedures For, The Committee; To Provide That The Mississippi Insurance Department Shall Provide The Staff And Other Support Necessary For The Committee To Perform Its Duties; To Provide For The Dissolution Of The Committee Upon The Submission Of Its Report To The Legislature; And For Related Purposes.
