Legislative Summary
This Act requires landlords to test tenants' wells for contaminants. (Flesch Readability Score: 61.3). [Digest: This Act requires landlords to test tenants' wells and DEQ to analyze its well data. (Flesch Readability Score: 67.5).] Requires, for each dwelling unit rented by a landlord for which the source of drinking water is [a] an exempt well [that is subject to regulation], that the landlord collect and test samples of drinking water from the dwelling unit for arsenic, [E. coli] coliform bacteria, lead and nitrates. Requires the [Department of Environmental Quality] Oregon Health Authority to adopt implementation rules. Becomes operative on June 1, 2026.
