Legislative Summary

Amend The South Carolina Code Of Laws By Amending Section 59-26-20, Relating To The Duties Of The State Board Of Education And The Commission On Higher Education, So As To Provide That The State Board Of Education Shall Develop A Scholarship Program For Certain Residents That Intend On Becoming Certified Teachers Employed In The State In Areas Of Critical Need; By Amending Section 59-149-10, Relating To Life Scholarships, So As To Provide For The Amount Of The Scholarship Based On The Student's Household Income; And By Amending Section 59-150-370, Relating To Hope Scholarships, Eligibility, Administration, And Reporting Requirements, So As To Increase The Amount Of The Scholarship To Three Thousand Dollars And To Provide That A Student Is Eligible For The Hope Scholarship If His Annual Household Income Is Less Than Seventy-five Thousand Dollars.
