Legislative Summary

As introduced, increases from $1,000 to $2,500 the amount of compensation that may be awarded from the criminal injuries compensation fund to a health care provider who performed a forensic medical examination on a victim of a sexually oriented crime; requires the Tennessee bureau of investigation to perform serology or DNA analysis on a sexual assault evidence collection kit within 120 days of the bureau's receipt of the sexual assault evidence collection kit from a law enforcement agency. - Amends TCA Title 29; Title 38 and Title 39.
